This is a picture of Elune in a more mortal form when she has fallen from her haven onto Azeroth in full form. The orb is her immortality and goddess like spirit being lifted away from her. Some believe that if she ever did come to Azeroth in form, that there would be world peace and tranquility, but I have that she has to give up her immortality and powers for this to happen.
